The tub makes the perfect perch to listen out for those wise old birds, preferably while sipping prosecco from your complimentary minibar. There’s a dinky heated outdoor pool and an even dinkier spa in a thatched cottage, but most guests are content during the day to wander the wild gardens to find a favourite corner for a picnic. They’re wonderfully secluded, so you almost feel you deserve a prize if you bump into another guest.
