We recently helped Dominic plan his unique proposal to Amber at The Tawny and we're delighted to share their thoughts on the experience. Spoiler alert, she said YES!!!!
In Amber's words...
'Dominic (my now fiancée!) and myself fell in love with The Tawny when we first visited last year for our 6 year anniversary. Everything about it is magical; the grounds, the curiosities you find amongst the walks, the endless views of nature, the intimate and private rooms and of course the lovely staff. We knew we had to return for our 7 year anniversary, however this time it would be even more magical.
I’d mentioned to Dominic throughout the year how much I loved The Tawny and how romantic it is, especially in front of the pool (top of the valley) with the stunning restaurant glimmering in the background - it really is such a beautiful place. Dominic asked if we could replicate some pictures we had gotten together in the exact same spot, which of course I was more than happy to do!'
'We stood together with my phone recording, to which Dominic had the perfect excuse for…”we can just screenshot the pictures we like from the video!”, until he got down on one knee. At that point everything turned into a blur…me and Dominic still don’t remember what we said to each other!
The wonderful Cris Lowis, the secret photographer that Dominic had arranged to capture the moment, appeared out of thin air. I had told Dominic back in 2018 that whenever we got engaged I’d love for our engagement to be photographed as it’s something you can’t replicate again, which he remembered.
The photographs truly capture the essence and beauty of The Tawny and of course that once in a lifetime special moment together.
We then enjoyed a beautiful and tasty meal in The Plumicorn restaurant which the Tawny team had handwritten congratulations cards and bottle of champagne ready for us on ice.
We feel so lucky to have found such a special place that we will cherish for the rest of our lives together.'
Dominic says...
'When planning my proposal to Amber, The Tawny were such a fantastic help. I spoke to the deputy manager Abi a month or so before our Trip to let her know my plans and asked if she could do to assist, which she was more than happy to help with.
First, she managed to adjust the room bookings around so we could stay in the same room (Stoat) as we did for our 6 year anniversary the year before. I mentioned to Abi that the reason Amber thought we were going to The Tawny this year was for our 7 year anniversary, which in part it was…but with an added extra surprise.
To further throw Amber off the scent, The Tawny Team emphasised how happy they were that we coming back for our anniversary and ever so kindly left us a bottle of fizz and a card in our room which made Amber not suspect any other surprises were in store for the trip.
I also arranged for a special delivery to arrive the day before our arrival which I asked The Tawny Team to store safely until the night of the proposal, which they did without a problem.'
'There were a few added surprises that I'd planned for our trip which I needed the team to keep quiet about when we checked in and the team managed this perfectly.
The day before the proposal, I spoke to The Tawny reception team to remind them of my plans for the next day. They were amazing at very subtlety helping me to enjoy a private moment with Amber in my preferred spot.
After the proposal and Amber saying YES! we went for a lovely meal at The Plumicorn where the restaurant team kindly welcomed us with Champagne on ice and smiles.
While we enjoyed an incredible meal, Abi took all the decorations, rose petals and balloons to set up our room for a lovely final surprise for Amber. Everything was implemented and timed perfectly!
Abi and her team throughout the whole trip were all so helpful and kind and made this trip extra special and a memory we will treasure forever.'
We do romance.
