When we first imagined The Tawny, we imagined a place that would grow in every sense of the word. Five years on, the grounds tell that story better than anything else we could show you.
Join us for a guided tour of the estate with the very people who tend to it, our gardeners, who know every corner, every planting decision, and every season the grounds have lived through. This is an intimate, unhurried walk through the heart of The Tawny, full of the kind of knowledge, passion and quiet pride that only comes from truly caring for a place.
Covering 70 acres of wilderness, this is the estate as you have never quite seen it before, through the eyes of the people who know it best. The event will take place at 11:30 am.

This event is £55 per person and includes a guided garden tour followed by afternoon tea.
What awaits you
A guided tour of the grounds with The Tawny's head gardeners, covering the story of the estate's planting, growing and evolution over five years. Alongside the lesser-known history of Consall Estate and previous owners. Learn about the seasonal planting, the wildlife encouraged onto the land, the kitchen garden that feeds The Plumicorn, and the vision that shapes every inch of the grounds.
This is an outdoor event, so we recommend comfortable shoes and layers. The grounds are beautiful in all weathers, and the tour will go ahead rain or shine. Numbers are kept small and intimate so that every guest has time to ask questions, linger and truly take it all in.

Every good walk deserves a proper sit down at the end of it, and this one is no exception.
Following the tour, join us for afternoon tea in the grounds, served in celebration of five wonderful years. Our award-winning afternoon tea is quintessentially English and utterly unhurried, a journey of beautifully paired treats and teas, enjoyed at your own pace with the estate all around you.
Blankets will be provided, the grounds will be at their summer best, and for a little while at least, there is nowhere else to be.
The People behind the grounds
Every garden tells the story of the people who tend it. At The Tawny, that story is one of genuine passion, quiet dedication and a deep love for this particular patch of Staffordshire earth.
Our gardening team have been here from the beginning, shaping, planting, nurturing and watching the grounds evolve through five full seasons. They know which corner catches the last of the evening sun, which beds were the hardest won, and which plants have surprised them most. They know this land in a way that only years of daily care can teach you.
On 3rd July they open that world up to you, sharing the stories behind the planting, the vision that guides every decision, and the quiet rhythms that keep the estate looking exactly as it does, season after season.
