I started my career as a part-time housekeeper; over the years I worked in a number of hotels across different departments, gaining first-hand knowledge and experience of this ever-evolving industry. I had some great leaders guide me and offer their support as I worked towards my degree in International Hospitality Management. Now in a Management role at The Tawny, I want to inspire the next generation of hospitality leaders.''

"I am 46 years old and started working at the Tawny Hotel two weeks before its opening in early July 2021.

I had never worked in hospitality before, so I entered with limited knowledge and a little trepidation, but an eagerness to learn.  Therefore, as soon as the apprenticeships were offered, I quickly chose ‘Introduction to Hospitality’ as the perfect starting point.

Having never worked in a hotel I felt it would speed up my learning and help bridge the gap I lacked in experience.

I am now 6 months into my apprenticeship and it has thus far been excellent, I have learned so much, it has helped me to better understand the role and made me much more confident with guests and procedures."

The Tawny Academy


Our team are at the heart of what we do, and we believe you need the right tools to get the job done right! At The Tawny we offer free courses in our Tawny Academy to offer both support and career progression.

Free Courses

Our training provider HIT Training and AIM offer a range of educational opportunities from short courses to full time apprenticeships. There are a wealth of opportunities for people from all walks of life, who are ready to apply themselves and be eager to learn.


The Tawny Academy also work with Schools, Colleges and Universities with tours, presentations and offering work experience placements to inspire the next generation of Hospitality Professionals.

Abi - Front Office Manager 

Abi is a prime example of how The Tawny can offer great Progression opportunities! Starting as a porter, in the last two years she has progressed to Front Office Manager leading the Front of House Team!

Garden Estates Team

Danny, Charlotte, Zac and Andrew 

The Garden Team work to maintain the hotel grounds and gardens to a standard worthy of a luxury hotel while encouraging nature and wildlife to thrive. They preserve the legacy of Mr. Podmore’s magical landscape and follies, creating a place of beauty and tranquility for our guests to enjoy. During the Summer months, Danny, Charlotte, Andrew, and Isaac can be found tending borders, mowing lawns, and keeping the site neat and welcoming, while in the Winter, their focus shifts to managing the woodlands and preparing the grounds ready for it to flourish again in the Spring.

Kitchen Brigade

Our Kitchen Team's passion is shown in all of our Menu's. The Management Team are always on the lookout for trending ingredients, new ways of cooking and inspiring our younger chefs, ready for their next step.

We are currently working towards our 3rd AA Rosette, an accomplishment high regarded in the industry.
