Celebrating Culinary Excellence

First hotel in Staffordshire to be awarded 3 AA Rosettes

A Landmark Achievement for The Tawny

We are delighted to announce that The Tawny has been awarded three AA Rosettes, a prestigious recognition of culinary excellence as part of the AA Rosette Awards. Following an inspection in January 2026, the accolade celebrates the dedication, creativity and expertise of our talented kitchen and restaurant teams, whose passion for exceptional dining continues to shape every guest experience.

This achievement also marks a historic moment for Staffordshire, as The Tawny becomes the first hotel in the county to be awarded three AA Rosettes. The honour recognises outstanding culinary creativity, technical precision and an unwavering commitment to delivering a truly memorable dining experience.

Head Chef Andrew Watts said of this milestone,

“This is an incredible achievement for The Kitchen and Restaurant Team at The Tawny. The team have been working tirelessly over the last year to achieve this incredible 3 AA Rosette milestone. It firmly establishes us as one of the best places to eat in Staffordshire!”

Dining at The Plumicorn offers a truly exceptional experience. Offering panoramic views across the sublime Consall Estate, guests enjoy extraordinary food in unforgettable surroundings. Modern in both structure and interior design, the restaurant provides a perfect platform to showcase the inventive and seasonal cuisine for which we are now officially recognised. Dining at The Plumicorn has consistently impressed visitors, with flavours and presentations that reflect both technical skill and heartfelt passion.

Chef Andrew’s style blends Modern British and French cuisine with Nordic influences, creating dishes that are inventive yet approachable. Signature dishes tend to be pastry-focused, crafted with care and precision, while the current favourite among guests is the exquisite Chocolate and umami-inspired dessert.

The tasting menu offers a curated journey through the kitchen’s philosophy, celebrating our creative approach to reimagining ingredients in diverse and unexpected ways. Each course builds upon the last, showcasing how familiar elements can be transformed into distinct expressions, while flowing seamlessly to create a harmonious and memorable dining experience.

Sourcing and Seasonality

At The Tawny, sourcing is local, seasonal, and sustainable. Our approach to sourcing reflects the same dedication to excellence that defines our kitchen. We work closely with trusted local suppliers who share our commitment to quality, sustainability, and responsible farming, ensuring every ingredient meets the highest standards.

Our kitchen garden, Herb Hollow, provides fresh produce picked daily, bringing immediacy and vibrancy to each dish. Meats are sourced from nearby Dunwood Farm and Sprinks Farm, where welfare and provenance are paramount. Our fish comes from a specialist Cornish supplier who sells only what is responsibly caught, prioritising sustainability and seasonality.

British cheeses are selected with care throughout the year, celebrating exceptional craftsmanship and provenance. As the seasons change, so too do our menus, guided by the finest Staffordshire produce and the belief that truly outstanding cooking begins with truly outstanding ingredients.
